When Wisdom marries Folly
2 There was a very rich man in Maon, the owner of a thousand goats and three thousand sheep, which he sheared in Carmel, where he had his farm. 3 His name was Nabal and he belonged to the Caleb family. His wife, Abigaíl, was a beautiful and intelligent woman; Nabal, on the other hand, was insolent and misbehaving. 1 Samuel 25: 2-3, 18-19
Foolishness: The Hebrew word for the word fool is "Nabal" and it means nonsense so the fool basically, according to God, has no meaning for this "The fool says in his heart: There is no God" (Psalm 14: 1). He or she is a fool if they say there is no God. (Without understanding).
Insolent: As insolent we designate a person who speaks or acts with boldness, disrespect or moderation, or who acts in an offensive or insulting way.
What the Hebrew bible says:
Genesis 2:18 ¨ It is not good for the person to be alone; I will make him a helper in front of him. ¨
You more than once when it has been convenient for you, put your wife in front of you, remember and tell if it is true.
David was impressed not only by Abigail's beauty but by the wisdom and her oratory that she showed when she went to persuade the King not to kill her foolish husband
Characteristics of Nabal's character:
1. Act like someone without Christ.
2. Lack of solving conflicts with Biblical knowledge.
3. Act on impulse.
Don't prepare a woman for a King. Change Your Attitude and Enjoy Your Partner
Nabal died: you are not going to die, because you have to see with your eyes what you did not value, but love, communication, respect, trust, care (illness, old age, if she does not care for you, it is like that this widower).
Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Col 3:18
Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. Colossians 3:19
Biblical Definition of Subjection: it is the action of ¨Uniting ¨ or ¨ holding ¨ is to complete or unite. The woman becomes attached to the man for the good treatment.
Anecdote: old man who fell twice in the gym, his wife was there.
That happens when nabal never changes.
Either you change or they change you.
Explanatory note: we are not sending anyone to commit adultery or sin, without Holiness no one will see the Lord, the woman who fears God puts her cause in God, does not faint but perseveres.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church, and gave himself up for her. Ephesians 5:25
You, husbands, likewise, live with them wisely, giving honor to the woman as a most fragile vessel, and as joint heirs of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered. 1 Peter 3: 7
It is the only part of the Bible where it clarifies that our prayers have an obstacle before God when we are not at peace with our wife, the treatment of both is very important in a good and healthy relationship.
