I. Good News to the Poor. Luke 4:18 / 7:22
Jesus applied the Prophecy of Isaiah 61: 1-2 to himself
To the poor, to the humble good news of hope from a deplorable condition to a better life.
Jesus read this word in the synagogue, but its purpose was for those outside.
There are poor in the material but there are also poor in spirit and mind
¨ Good news ¨ is to get out of the condition of poverty that you have until that moment that you receive the power of Jesus Christ in your life
7:22 ¨ And Jesus answering, said to them: Go, let John know what you have seen and heard: the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor are announced the gospel;
The power of the gospel is not miracles, it is salvation and eternal life
I confirm that he was not to wait for another, that he was the Messiah, the prophetic word was there made flesh.
Jesus faced Sin, disease and death, and overcame them, they were the original forces of evil in the world, that was his purpose of his coming, not exclusively miracles but his power over everything. He came to do what man cannot do for himself.
2. Heal the brokenhearted. Luke 4:18 / Proverbs 23:26
¨ Give me, my son, your heart,
And look into your eyes in my ways. ¨ Prov. 23:26
To those who have their hearts in pieces, broken by circumstances, Jesus can heal the wounded heart of the human being, one of the greatest needs of the human being is to have a healthy heart, only because of the redemptive work of Jesus,
The hearts of the people of that time were hungry and thirsty for justice for what they lived due to the social and political crisis. And the same happens in our times, the crisis does not stop being a crisis at all times.
They had a heart full of resentment before the Roman Empire for the yoke it put on the people of Israel. Christ appeared after 30 years of silence, to do a redemptive work in three years to a people loaded with sin and oppressed by the system, the same thing happens today and that is what the church is for to do the work of Christ in those in need of his liberating power.
Ezekiel 3: 26-27
26. ¨ I will give you a new heart, and put a new spirit within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. ¨
27. ¨ And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you will keep my precepts, and do them. ¨
3. To proclaim freedom to the Captives. Luke 4:18 / John 8:34
Captive: Prisoner, Slave / someone who falls into the power of his enemies / Unhappy condition.
Jesus answered them: Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. John 8:34
People today walk captive, enslaved to sin and their sinful desires.
¨and escape from the snare of the devil, in which you are captive at his will.¨
2 Timothy 2:26
But how are they going to escape from this bond of slavery so strong that it is leading many people to an eternity without Christ.
Sin belongs to the heart, it is in our nature, Jesus came to rebuild the nature of each man and give us the nature of God.
¨ He who practices sin is of the devil; because the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this the Son of God appeared, to undo the works of the devil. 1 John 3: 8
For that Christ appeared to undo the works of the devil, he came to free the captives, the slaves of sin.
51.¨ Jesus answered, said to him: What do you want me to do to you? And the blind man said to him: Master, let him regain his sight.¨
52. ¨ And Jesus said to him: Go, your faith has saved you. And immediately he regained his sight, and was following Jesus on the road.
The purpose of Christ is fulfilled by giving salvation to the blind, and healing.
V. To set the Oppressed free. Luke 4:18 / Psalm 103: 6
¨Jehovah is the one who does justice
And right to all who suffer violence.¨ Psalm 103: 6
Oppression: Subdue, Press, suffocate a person / afflict.
At the time when Jesus grew up and lived, there was oppression of the Roman Empire, many thought that Jesus would be the king to free them from oppression, it was so much that even the Jews oppressed their own people working as tax collectors and collecting taxes. very tall.
The freedom that Jesus gives is free of the spirit and the soul, when Jesus is in the life of a person, no matter how difficult the environment, Jesus produces freedom.
The law is for him who violates it, he who lives under the law is oppressed, he who is with Christ enjoys the freedom of grace.
¨ So, if the Son sets you free, you will be truly free. ¨ John 8:36
Ephesians 1: 21-2
21 over every principality and authority and power and lordship, and over every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the age to come;
22 and put all things under his feet, and made him head over all things to the church,
23 which is his body, the fullness of the One who fills everything in everything.
SAW. To preach the Pleasant year of the Lord. Luke 4:19
Here it seems to make references to the jubilee year that occurred every 50 years
Isaiah's prophecy describes exactly how to free the captives, that prophecy is declaring the coming of the Messiah to usher in a period of unprecedented freedom.
Justice would triumph over oppression, the unjust would suffer punishment and God's justice would be manifested.
